Spiritual Warfare

by Bernard Yosef Honigfort on March 11, 2013 in Quick Thought with One Comment

As I look at my surroundings, I hear many things that people are saying that does not seem right with what I read in the Bible. This world is in the times that Yeshua told us about in the 24th chapter of Matthew. People are stockpiling foods, collecting weapons (not that I am against weapons), and doing many other things as though they are preparing for war within this land and this world.  This all brings these scripture verses to mind:

No weapon that is formed against you shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of Yahweh, and their righteousness which is of me, says Yahweh. (Isaiah 54:17)

38 You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.’ 39 But I tell you, don’t resist him who is evil; but whoever strikes you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also. 40 If any man would go to law with you and take away your coat, let him have your cloak also. 41 Whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two. 42 Give to him who asks you, and don’t turn away him who desires to borrow from you. Matthew 5:38-42

For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. (Ephesians 6:12)

Some trust in chariots, and some in horses, But we trust the name of Yahweh our God. (Psalms 20:7)

If it seem evil to you to serve Yahweh, choose you this day whom you will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve Yahweh. (Joshua 24:15)

Yeshua told us in John 14:12-17:

12 Most assuredly I tell you, he who believes in me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these will he do; because I am going to my Father.

13 Whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

14 If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it.

15 If you love me, keep MY mitzvot (commandments).

16 I will pray to the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, that he may be with you forever,

17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world can’t receive; for it doesn’t see him, neither knows him. You know him, for he lives with you, and will be in you.

This means that unless we keep His commandments, we will not see the Spirit of Truth, which is the Holy Spirit. Through all of this we will do greater works then Yeshua did because He is in us.

Why are His works not being done today? Because many who say they believe in Yeshua refuse to do what He asked us to do in following all of His commandments.

I had a dream/vision some time ago. What I saw was some miraculous things, believers were doing all that Yeshua did … the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached. (Luke 7:22)

The dream/vision seemed very real, yet whatever I thought, and spoke, it happened. There were even catastrophes that were averted because the POWER of Yahweh was called down upon it. It seemed like, in my small mind, I was controlling what happened. It was not me doing it though, it was Yeshua doing these things through me and others. We are seeing Yeshua build an army of believers, it is not what this world believes it is. We are to TRUST in OUR FATHER YHWH, trusting in Him for everything.

24 No one can be slave to two masters; for he will either hate the first and love the second, or scorn the second and be loyal to the first. You can’t be a slave to both God and money.

25 “Therefore, I tell you, don’t wor y about your life — what you will eat or drink; or about your body — what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food and the body more than clothing?

26 Look at the birds flying about! They neither plant nor harvest, nor do they gather food into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you worth more than they are?

27 Can any of you by worrying add a single hour to his life?

28 “And why be anxious about clothing? Think about the fields of wild irises, and how they grow. They neither work nor spin thread,

29 yet I tell you that not even Shlomo in all his glory was clothed as beautifully as one of these.

30 If this is how God clothes grass in the field — which is here today and gone tomorrow, thrown in an oven — won’t he much more clothe you? What little trust you have!

31 “So don’t be anxious, asking, `What will we eat?,’ `What will we drink?’ or `How will we be clothed?’

32 For it is the pagans who set their hearts on all these things. Your heavenly Father knows you need them all.

33 But seek first his Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

34 Don’t worry about tomorrow — tomorrow will worry about itself! Today has enough tsuris (trouble, evil, sorrow) already!
(Matthew 6:24-34)

Do we not understand what the coming Tribulation is all about … there is a shaking coming?

18 For you have not come to a tangible mountain, to an ignited fire, to darkness, to murk, to a whirlwind,

19 to the sound of a shofar, and to a voice whose words made the hearers beg that no further message be given to them –

20 for they couldn’t bear what was being commanded them, “If even an animal touches the mountain, it is to be stoned to death”;

21 and so terrifying was the sight that Moshe said, “I am quaking with dread.”

22 On the contrary, you have come to Mount Tziyon, that is, the city of the living God, heavenly Yerushalayim; to myriads of angels in festive assembly;

23 to a community of the firstborn whose names have been recorded in heaven; to a Judge who is God of everyone; to spirits of righteous people who have been brought to the goal;

24 to the mediator of a new covenant, Yeshua; and to the sprinkled blood that speaks better things than that of Hevel.

25 See that you don’t reject the One speaking! For if those did not escape who rejected him when he gave divine warning on earth, think how much less we will escape if we turn away from him when he warns from heaven.

26 Even then, his voice shook the earth; but now, he has made this promise: “One more time I will shake not only the earth, but heaven too!”

27 And this phrase, “one more time,” makes clear that the things shaken are removed, since they are created things, so that the things not shaken may remain.

28 Therefore, since we have received an unshakeable Kingdom, let us have grace, through which we may offer service that will please God, with reverence and fear.

29 For indeed, “Our God is a consuming fire!”
(Hebrews 12:18-29)

9 But you are a chosen people, the King’s cohanim, a holy nation, a people for God to possess! Why? In order for you to declare the praises of the One who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

10 Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; before, you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
(1 Peter 2:9-10)

We are a CHOSEN PEOPLE, A HOLY NATION, SPIRITUAL WARRIORS, PRAYER WARRIORS, being prepared for battle against demonic forces. Know who you are and get right with Yahweh by doing what He said and keep His commandments.
