Back to Basics: Understanding Torah Observance
Examine it for yourself and let’s discuss. These are questions you should be asking yourself.
But He [Yeshua] answering, said, “It has been written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by EVERY WORD that comes from the MOUTH of יהוה.’ ” ~ Matthew 4:4
Where do we find the WORD of God?
In the BEGINNING was the WORD, and the Word was with Elohim, and the Word was Elohim. ~ John 1:1
What was in the beginning?
In the BEGINNING Elohim created the heavens and the earth. ~ Genesis 1:1
Why did God create these TWO things?
“At the MOUTH of TWO or three WITNESSES shall he that is to die be put to death. He is not put to DEATH by the mouth of one witness. ~ Deut 17:6
So what? Heaven and Earth are witnesses. To what?
“I have called the HEAVENS and the EARTH as WITNESSES today against you: I have set before you LIFE and DEATH, the BLESSING and the CURSE. Therefore you shall CHOOSE LIFE, so that you live, both you and your seed, to love יהוה your Elohim, to obey His VOICE, and to cling to Him – for **He** is your LIFE and the length of your days – to dwell in the land which יהוה swore to your fathers, to Aḇraham, to Yitsḥaq, and to Ya‛aqoḇ, to give them.” ~ Deut 30:19-20
Those are Jews though!
“There is ONE Torah for the native-born AND for the stranger who sojourns among you.” ~ Exodus 12:49
Torah?! That’s the LAW booo! I wouldn’t be happy UNDER the LAW!
Praise Yah! Blessed is the man, Who fears יהוה, Who has greatly delighted in His commands. ~ Psalms 112:1
Blessed are the perfect in the WAY, Who walk in the Torah of יהוה! Blessed are those who observe His WITNESSES, Who seek Him with all the heart! ~ Psalms 119:1-2
Back to witnesses. Why does that matter?!
“For truly, I say to you, TILL the HEAVEN and the EARTH pass away, one jot or one tittle shall by NO MEANS pass from the Torah till ALL be done. ~ Matthew 5:18
“The HEAVEN and the EARTH shall pass away, but My WORDS shall by no means pass away. ~ Matthew 24:35
What does all this mean?
It means that while heaven and earth are still around, the words of our Messiah, who only spoke the Word from God; the Torah, shall not pass – they were not nailed to the cross (tree of curse/death — see also tree of life/Torah). It means that we must make a choice, literally life and death choice. Do you want blessings, true blessings from our Father? Or would you willingly choose death, the curse of the Torah (aka curse of the Law – hint hint Paul fans). It means that for many years, many of us were lied to about who are Messiah is and what He truly stood for.
I believe that the whole of Christianity – the system not the individuals – follows a false prophet and an anti-messiah. Why?
All Scripture is breathed by Elohim and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for setting straight, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of Elohim might be fitted, equipped for every good work. ~ II Timothy 3:16
Can we agree that “All” means all? If so, what Scripture was available to Sha’ul (Paul) when writing this letter? Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John? ::
Answer: None of the above. Paul was a Torah-teacher, THE Torah teacher of the times. He taught the Torah.
Now Sha’ul, perceiving that one part were Sadducees and the other Pharisees, cried out in the council, “Men, brothers, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee, I am being judged concerning the expectation and resurrection of the dead!” ~ Act 23:6
Ok, so what? Paul’s a Pharisee and taught Jews Torah. It’s been done away with!
What, then, shall we say? Is the Torah sin? Let it NOT be! However, I did not know sin EXCEPT through the Torah. For also the covetousness I knew not if the Torah had not said, “You shall not covet.” ~ Romans 7:7
Note: this was from Paul
Ok, so the Torah isn’t sin or done away with, why do you think Christianity follows a false prophet and anti-messiah?!
When there arises among you a PROPHET or a dreamer of dreams, and he shall give you a sign or a wonder, and the sign or the wonder shall come true, of which he has spoken to you, saying, ‘Let us go after other mighty ones – which you have not known – and serve them,’ DO NOT listen to the words of that PROPHET or that dreamer of dreams, for יהוה your Elohim is TRYING (testing) you to know whether you LOVE יהוה your Elohim with ALL YOUR HEART and with all your being. “Walk after יהוה your Elohim and fear Him, and guard His COMMANDS and obey His voice, and serve Him and cling to Him. ~ Deut 13:1-4
You see, I believe that Christianity has been a way to spread a big lie shrouded in a little truth. If Paul – Christian’s ‘go to’ man for “the law is done away with” says Torah IS NOT sin, why would we follow a man, “Jesus”, who allowed the Law (Torah) to be nailed to the cross? According to God’s own words we mustn’t listen to that man – in fact, he would be put to death for leading His people AWAY from God.
Have you read it for yourself without the blinders and bias of your understandings? I leave you with this and a call to action; let’s talk.
Trust in יהוה with ALL YOUR HEART, And lean not on your own understanding; ~ Proverbs 3:5
There’s ONE Messiah who KEPT the law, TAUGHT the law, and will bring the law back in to place when He returns … His name is Yeshua. His name means Salvation.
Do we follow Torah for our Salvation? I used to say no, that it is BECAUSE of our salvation we should follow Torah. Yet, I don’t believe ANYONE is saved until final judgement is passed – therefore, if Yeshua is the living Word and the Word is God – then we must follow Salvation by keeping his Word.
What does this mean and why is it so important? Why does Yeshua claim to be these:
“I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. ~ John 14:6
BLESSED are the perfect in THE WAY, Who walk in the Torah of יהוה! ~ Psalm 119:1
Your righteousness is righteousness forever, And Your Torah is TRUTH. ~ Pslam 119:142
For the command is a lamp, And the Torah a light, And reproofs of discipline a way of LIFE, ~ Proverbs 6:23
Light & Perfect
Blessed are THE PERFECT … and the TORAH A LIGHT. What does this mean and why is it so important?
In the beginning was the WORD, and the WORD was with Elohim, and the WORD was Elohim. ~ John 1:1
Your WORD is a lamp to my feet And a LIGHT to my path. ~ Ps 119:105
But he that looked INTO the PERFECT Torah, that of FREEDOM, and continues in it, not becoming a hearer that forgets, but a doer of work, this one shall be BLESSED in his doing of the Torah. ~ James 1:25
To look into Torah, to walk in Torah; the instructions of our Creator, is to be blessed, to be perfect in His eyes. Does this mean we keep it perfectly? How could we? These instructions are the standard by which one comes to the Father through the gate, the way, the truth of Messiah Yeshua.
Learn about the Tabernacle/Temple. We know that where the Ark rests, God descends upon it – it is the Holy of Holies. In order to reach this please one would have to start from the outside perimeter with only ONE WAY in, The Way in to the temple, into the holy place, and finally into the Holy of Holies – the Father.
Following Messiah isn’t a once, twice; or if you’re really good, three times a week deal. It’s a daily walk. A narrow way leading to a narrow gate.
We hope this message has blessed you and will help you in your walk.
